Eye Card Game
The Rotterdam Eye Hospital has been using this eye card game very successfully during day start sessions, for more than a year. The game was created as a result of the need for tools by health care team leaders and health care providers, to give shape to day start sessions. It creates the possibility to keep current topics alive in an accessible way.
Questions regarding topics in the eye hospital
The game cards contain questions, with regard to the following topics:
- Infection prevention
- File keeping and checklist management
- Medication safety
- Teamwork
- Taking care of your workplace
The questions include knowledge questions, observation questions and activity questions. These cards can help health care team leaders make subjects more easily discussible.
How to play the game
- At the day start session, one or more team members – depending on the size of the team— pick a card.
- Knowledge questions can be answered immediately. Observation questions and activity questions are read out loud and acted upon during the day. At the next day start session, the card will be handed back in and findings will be discussed.
WAEH 2016 meeting
The Eye card game has been introduced by The Rotterdam Eye Hospital in the WAEH network during the 10th annual meeting of the WAEH. This meeting was hosted by The Rotterdam Eye Hospital, from Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
